I moved to the Mammoth Lakes area in February of 2015 from Southern California. After 40 years in the mortgage banking industry I decided it was time to pursue my love of Pilates and become a teacher.  15 years ago I was diagnosed with an 8mm herniated disk and spinal stenosis.  The doctors recommended surgery to relieve the pain and help regain my mobility.  I had always been extremely active and fit and the thought of back surgery was not something I wanted to do.  A friend suggested “Pilates.” I started off very slow, gradually regaining strength and mobility. I loved it! Eventually I had days where I was pain free and continued to get stronger.  I have studied Classic, Balanced Body and Stott methods over the past 15 years.  Last year I took the opportunity to take Jessi’s teacher training and passed the exam.

I am happy to say I am teaching at Flowmotion in Bishop as well as Snowcreek in Mammoth.  I take my PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) exam in November and plan to continue my Pilates education.

It is very rewarding to help my students learn to use proper technique and breath to restore alignment and movement.michellem
